Com.au asked readers to choose which of these three would be their favourite: a hot and spicy curry, a spicy, sweet and tangy curry, or a light and spicy dish.
While the majority of respondents liked both the curry and the spicy dish, the majority also enjoyed both.
For example, of the five responses that named a dish after their favourite Australian, three were also named after their mum or aunt.
The survey found that only a handful of respondents were also passionate about the foods they had sampled in the survey.
Among those who said they loved the curry, one of the more common answers was a spicy dish and two of the responses to the curry were both sweet.
The rest of the survey responses were mostly about the taste, with most people saying they enjoyed the flavour of a dish as well as the texture.
The poll also asked people which foods they would consider their favourites if they had to choose between them.
The top choice was the hot and sour curry.
Of the respondents, the most common response was that it was a hot dish and that their favourite was a curry made with chilli.
More than two-thirds of respondents also said they would like to have a curry from the south of the state, although a few people were adamant they would only be able to have the spicy version.
